“Ka raranga ngā hau ki te muri
ka raranga ngā hau ki te tonga
ka whakapuke ngā ngaru o Te Ngarue
ko ngā pōtiki a Hinehopu e heru ana ki Te Matarae i o Rehu

The winds weave from the north, the winds weave from the south, the waves of Te Ngarue surge, the descendants of Hinehopu adorn themselves at Te Matarae i o Rehu. Forward, forward, bring forth the adze! Bind it! Gather it! It is done!
Pikiao II resided with Hinehopu, and from them came Te Tākinga, Hinekura, and Moho. Their line descended to Te Rangiunuora.
“It is Te Rangiunuora standing here, calling forth.”
